1937

The front composition shows a map of the flight across the North Pole from Moscow to San Jacinto (USA) and the portraits of the crew members M.M. Gromov (commander), A.B. Yumashev (second pilot) and S.A. Danilin (navigator). Inscribed with: “Stalin’s order fulfilled!” and “”A new world direct range record set.’ The reverse inscribed with: “20th Anniversary of the USSR. 1917–1937”

Porcelain, decal, overglaze painting, gilding. H. 32

In 1937, following Chkalov’s crew, M.M. Gromov and his crew flew ANT-25 across the North Pole, setting two world flight range records. That flight brought the Order of Lenin to M.M. Gromov and the titles of Heroes of the Soviet Union to A.B. Yumashev and S.A. Danilin. The World Air Sports Federation (FAI) awarded the De la Vaulx Medal to the pilots and navigator for the top achievement in 1937.
