This piece is copied copy from an example in a private collection, most likely that of the descendants of Iosif Rybakov (1880–1938), a friend of the Dan’ko’s sisters, who was an important art collector during the early Soviet period. Petrektrans, which appears on the base, was the name of a private transport firm on whose board Rybakov served and for which he was legal advisor.
