Semyon Faibisovich was born in Moscow in 1949. He attended the Moscow Secondary Art School and the Moscow Architectural Institute, from which he graduated in 1972. He joined the City Council of Graphic Artists in 1979 and began exhibiting his work around this time.
Faibisovich’s Hyperrealist works depict the reality of contemporary Russia, particularly the anonymous stretches of urban space and its urban inhabitants. His favorite subjects are scenes from the underground, bus terminals and trains, places where people are caught outside their protective private spheres. Even though the artist creates Russian scenes, his subjects are typical for the lives of individuals and societies everywhere.
Since the 1980s Faibisovich has exhibited his work in the United States and in Western Europe. His works figure in many prominent collections. Faibisovich lives and works in Moscow.
