Valentina Shapiro, born in Sibiria in 1948, spends her childhood in Moscow.
In 1966, she gets her bachelor of arts, and continued her studies at the polygraph institute of Moscow where she got her diploma. Due to the Russian regime she moves to Israel in 1972, starting an own series of works and and exhibitions.
In 1975 she settled down in Paris. During the next 10 years she exposes her oeuvres essentially in the most prestigious museums and galeries of the great capitals. From 1979 to 1982 she commuted between Paris and Aarau, Switzerland and stays there until 1991. Since 1992 she lives and works in Fribourg, Switzerland.
Her work has been showed in capitals such as Paris, Saint Petersbourg, Tokyo, New York, the Biennale in Venise and has been acquired by diverse international museums.
