The vase was made for the 20 th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). Souvenir products for Victory Day were traditionally set as annual production targets of art laboratories of every Soviet art-related enterprise, including glassworks.

The vase is decorated with the representation of the Order of Victory, the highest Soviet military order instituted by the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet on November 8, 1943.
