Paired wine glasses with engraved plant ornament and ‘VB’ and ‘LB’ monograms in round embossed medallions
1960

Russia (?), 1960s–1970s

Uncolored and colored (red and purple) cut glass, cutting and engraving

Height 29.5 (11.5")

The initials decorating the wine glasses are those of Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev (1906–1982), General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee from 1966 to 1982, and his wife, Victoria Petrovna (1907–1995). The wine glasses were custom made as is attested by their top-grade execution and a fairly original method of using colored cut-glass mass to imitate wine.
