In 1921 Soviet Russia officially declared International Women’s Day (IWD) of March 8 a national holiday. The Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet decreed on May 8, 1965, that March 8 be a non-working day. Making IWD souvenirs became a tradition and planned target for Soviet industry.
